This body of work is inspired by the human body’s ability to often still function and find new pathways during and after a neurological episode.  I have always been so amazed at the body’s ability to move and function in a newfound way. This piece is comprised of five objects that are a cohesive representation of balance, and abstracted postural poses that speak to each other.

The pieces can stand alone but are stronger as a group utilizing the shapes created in the shadows they cast and the negative spaces between and surrounding each form.  Stroke has had a personal effect on myself, and my family and I have always found it incredible how the body can heal itself and how we can relearn to walk and move again, or how the body adapts to new ways of living.

The intention behind creating multiple pieces is representative of the healing process involving support from friends and family and other people living through the same or similar experiences.  Each piece can stand alone to make a powerful statement in that the person healing relies heavily on themselves to push through and be resilient by putting in the hard work to get better.
